Orange supports young members of Gyumri football school

YEREVAN, April 10, /ARKA/.  Orange Armenia, a subsidiary of France Telecom, has announced today the launch of a partnership with Shirak FC.

In the frame of this cooperation Orange will support the 400 children of Shirak FC youth school providing them with training uniforms.

Orange Armenia will as well provide new sets of uniforms for trainings and official games, sport vests, as well as professional footwear to 175 children, representing Shirak  in 5 championships of Armenia in  various age categories.

“Orange puts a lot of importance in supporting children. Today we are glad to launch this partnership with Shirak FC, as it will enable us to ease the financial burden for Gyumri families and make football more affordable for citizens of Gyumri.  We believe that it will, as well, contribute to the long term success of Shirak FC – the pride of any Gyumretsi - as the most talented members of this school are the future professional players of the club” said Francis Gelibter, General Director of Orange Armenia.

“This cooperation with Orange will be of great support to the development of football in Gyumri - a town with rich sports traditions. This step of Orange is very appreciated, as Shirak region, and in particular Gyumri, are among the most vulnerable in terms of social condition of the population. I believe this initiative will be greeted with excitement by the members of the Shirak youth school and by the Club in general. I hope this initiative will be the start of the developing cooperation between Orange and Shirak” mentioned Arman Sahakyan, the president of Shirak FC.

FC Shirak is one of the most famous Armenian football clubs. It was founded in 1958. The club have won 4 national championships (1992, 1994, 1999, 2012/2013), 1 cup title (2012) and 4 Armenian super-cups (1996, 1999, 2002, 2013).
