Participants of second round of computer classes for 50+ people receive their certificates from Rostelecom
YEREVAN, July 7. /ARKA/. Sixteen participants of the second round of Rostelecom’s computer classes for mid-generation people have received their certificates from the telecommunication company, the press office of Rostelecom reported on Wednesday.
According to the press release, 60-to-75-year-old citizens have attended the second-round classes. The total duration of the classes was 12 hours. They have been conducted as part of Internet Alphabet project.
“Rostelecom attaches special importance to the program in Armenia,” Siranush Gyurjyan, chief of public relation division of Rostelecom in Armenia, is quoted in the press release as saying. “We can place it on record that the project was successful and thanks to the obtained knowledge, elderly students achieve new success.”
The classes are conducted with participation of student volunteers in the Yerevan branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and in the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University. The special manual ‘Internet Alphabet’ is used here.
The manual consists of the following sections: work with texts, work in Internet, search of information in Internet, safe Internet, electronic services, governing institutions’ websites and online shopping.
The manual has been designed specially for Armenian users. It presents online functions and websites of Armenian governing agencies and companies providing utility services as well as important news resources.
Rostelecom is also conducting ‘Thanks to Internet 2016’ contest among 50+ people as part of Internet Alphabet project.
The program was launched in Armenia in December 2015. The basic curriculum consists of 12 parts and implies the use of Word, e-mail, Skype and social networks as well as the portals of government services.
Rostelecom’s Armenian subsidiary GNC-ALFA began promotion and sale of broadband Internet, IP-TV and a new generation of IP-telephony in Armenia under the brand of Rostelecom from 2012 December.
The company’s fiber-optic network covers 80% of the territory of Armenia, extending to more about 3000 km. The network is connected to the main regional backbones and major traffic exchange sites, as well as international channels via Georgia and Iran. --0----
