Price for roaming between Armenia and Russia to be downed
YEREVAN, July 13. /ARKA/. The price for roaming between Armenia and Russia will be downed, Vahan Martirosyan, Armenian transport, communication and information technology minister, told journalists on Wednesday.
Russian media resources reported that a bill has been put on the Russian parliament's floor to retract
roaming with Belarus at all.
The bill proposes to stop taking extra payment for calls between Russia and Belarus' residents on January 1, 2018.
Besides, the bill implies that Russian and Belarusian customers will use internet at internal prices of operators.
«Armenia is negotiating with Russia as well, but not over retraction of roaming – it is negotiating to have prices lowered,» Martirosyan said. «It is expected in this connection that an agreement will be signed soon to lower roaming prices.»
The minister also said that Armenia's VivaCell-MTS mobile communication operator and its Russian parent company MTS have already downed roaming between them to 25 drams.
Martirosyan said that there is no talk about retraction of roaming. He refrained from indicating the price after the lowering.
He also didn't rule out the probability of complete abolition of roaming in the Eurasian Economic Union's space in the future.
There are three mobile communication operators in Armenia now – ArmenTel CJSC (Beeline brand), VivaCell-MTS (MTS Armenia CJSC) and Ucom (Universal Communications). ($1 – AMD 478.91). --0--
