Rostelecom CEO in Armenia presents cable TV development prospects
YEREVAN, September 29. /ARKA/. Hayk Faramazyan, Rostelecom CEO in Armenia, spoke Friday at ‘Days of Caucasian Cable Television 2017’ international conference about cable television development prospects, the speeding up OTT and IPTV technologies, trends in TV transmission and watching via high-speed cloud technologies.
He spoke on transformation of traditional telecommunication services in internet broadcasting, which on its side creates the necessity for extra investments from operators, which will make its possible to expand broadcasting capacity.
Faramazyan said that users prefer Catch-up and Video Services technologies, which doesn’t restrict them in terms of time and ensure content to them at any time.
He also said that for successful development in the future convergent services with the present media resources will become necessary.
‘Days of Caucasian Cable Television 2017’ is an annual event. The first conference was held in 2004. The event is organized by the Association of Cable Television Companies of Armenia, the Association of Cable Television Companies of Russia and the Union of Cable Television of Georgia.
More than 70 representatives of 41 companies from many countries have established ties and discuss cable and traditional television development prospects.
Rostelecom’s Armenian subsidiary GNC-ALFA began promotion and sale of broadband Internet, IP-TV and a new generation of IP-telephony in Armenia under the brand of Rostelecom from 2012 December.
The company’s fiber-optic network covers 80% of the territory of Armenia, extending to more about 3000 km. The network is connected to the main regional backbones and major traffic exchange sites, as well as international channels via Georgia and Iran. --0----
