Rostelecom conducting computer literacy classes in Armenia for 50+ people
YEREVAN, December 1. /ARKA/. Rostelecom is implementing the fist in Armenia computer literacy program for people older than 50, Natalia Shushlina, the head the telecommunication company's department in charge of special projects, told ARKA News Agency.
She said that the program was initially designed to reduce queues in social organizations that serve pensioners.
“The essential knowledge curriculum includes 12 chapters and it begins from how to turn on the computer. We teach them in Word how to use e-mail, Skype, social networks and government services portals,” she said.
Shushlina said that ten people will attend the first open lesson, but the program will be developing.
In her words, the same program is being implemented in Russia 18 months. The program has already proved its effectiveness in the country's 40 regions.
“We have conducted 'Thank You, Internet' contest and our targeted category of people could submit essays titled 'How Did Internet Help Me'“, she said adding that two pensioners found jobs, one participant enrolled in a university and one 78-year-old winner of the contest obtained skill in painting landscapes.
On Monday, Rostelecom presented in Yerevan its educational program 'Internet A -B-C'. Republic of Armenia' intended for older generation.
Open Internet A -B-C lessons as well as training for volunteers and information technology professors at the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University were available in the Yerevan branch of Plekhanov Russian University of Economics from November 30 to December 1.
GNC-ALFA CJSC, Armenian subsidiary of Russia’s Rostelecom group of telecommunication companies, started selling telecommunication services in December 2012 under Rostelecom brand. ---0---
