Some 160 children with special needs to obtain education as part of “Knowledge for the sake of prosperity” project
YEREVAN, September 10. /ARKA/. Some 160 children with special needs will be involved in an education system designed for them as part of the project “Knowledge for the Sake of Prosperity”, Lusine Simonyan, director of the Child Development Foundation, said Wednesday presenting at a news conference in Novosti International Press Center a joint project with ArmenTel.
ArmenTel Telecommunication Company (Beeline brand) and the Child Development Foundation launched the project on Wednesday.
The aim of the project is to provide inclusive education at educational establishments in Yerevan and Armenia’s provinces.
Under this project, appropriate measures will be taken in six education establishments in Yerevan as well as in Ararat and Kotayk provinces.
Simonyan said that teachers involved in the inclusive education project will be retrained. Special rooms with developing games and books will be at such children’s disposal as well as Beeline development facilities.
“Such projects, particularly in provinces, help children, their parents, schools and communities,” she said. “Remarkable is that our partner ArmenTel attaches special importance to implementation of such projects in provinces contributing to successful integration of such children in the society.”
Simonyan said there are ten inclusive schools in Yerevan, and each of Armenia’s provinces has one inclusive school.
“There are no inclusive kindergartens in Armenia, but some children with special needs attend preschool child establishments,” she said. “We highly appreciate the experience of successful cooperation with the Child Development Foundation and we believe our project to improve children’s lives,” AtmenTel CEO Andrey Pyatakhin said on his side. “Creation of favorable conditions for child education and enhancement of inclusive education levels are very important for mental and physical development of children with special needs.”
ArmenTel started cooperating with the Child Development Foundation in April 2011.
ArmenTel CJSC, a subsidiary of Russian VimpelCom (trading as Beeline), provides fixed and mobile telecommunication services (about 650,000 and more than 780,000 subscribers respectively) and a high-speed access to Internet. -0--
