Some 2,400 residents of Syunik province may have their eyes examined by doctors as part of ‘Light to Armenian Eyes’ campaign
YEREVAN, September 23. /ARKA/. Some 900 children and 1,500 adults in Armenia’s Syunik province may have their eyes examined by doctors as part of ‘Light to Armenian Eyes’ campaign being implemented by Armenian EyeCare Project, AECP under Ucom’s support.
About 450 Syunik residents will receive a comprehensive examination in a mobile ophthalmologic clinic, of which 130 will undergo surgery or laser eye surgery.
The program was launched three months ago and is under way now. Eye care classes are being conducted for school children and adults.
“More than 100 people have undergone surgery in Syunik,” said Nune Yeghiazaryan, head of the Armenian office of AECP. “The work is under way now and will be completed in October in Goris. I hope this cooperation between Armenian EyeCare Project and Ucom Company will continue providing our citizens who have eye problems with free ophthalmologic services.”
Ashot Barseghyan, the head of the Ucom Charity Foundation, on his side, said that he was impressed by replies of the three other Armenian provinces’ residents, who enjoyed the services provided as part of this campaign.
“Ucom Foundation will spare no efforts for making the program successful and available to socially unsecured categories of people in all the provinces of Armenia,” he said. “We will visit Armavir province soon – its residents will get an opportunity to enjoy up-to-date eye care services.”
In October, free eye care services will be available also in Armavir province.
The Armenian EyeCare Project is in its 13th year now.
