Some 70% of Armenia’s IT products exported – premier
YEREVAN, June 23. /ARKA/. Today Armenia’s information technology industry exports around 70% of its products, Hovik Abrahamyan, Armenian prime minister, said Wednesday in Yerevan at an international IT conference titled ‘IT Outsourcing and Investments’.
In his words, 79.5% of the industry’s exports go to the United States and Canada, 10.8% to Europe and 8.4% to Russia and CIS countries.
Taking into account the achieved success, he said, the Armenian government will continue supporting the country’s IT industry.
“Armenia’s IT industry today keeps up with world economic trends,” he said. “The number of Armenian companies developing their own products and contributing to researches and fundamental studies is growing from year to year.”
The premier stressed that the country’s IT industry is developing from outsourcing market for foreign companies into a technology development center.
The Armenian IT industry has plenty to offer to the world – high-qualified specialists, low maintenance costs, a rich experience in cooperation with large transnational companies and up-to-international-standards laws protecting intellectual property.
According to official statistical reports, Armenia’s IT industry enjoyed 17% growth in 2015, and its total turnover amounted to $550 million.
More than 450 IT companies with about 13,000 specialists operate in Armenia now. --0----
