Stamp with Hamo Beknazaryan picture cancelled in Yerevan
YEREVAN, July 14. /ARKA/. A stamp with Hamo Beknazaryan, Armenian prominent director of Soviet epoch, depicted on it was cancelled Thursday in Yerevan.
The stamp cancellation ceremony dedicated to the 125th birthday of the director was held as aprt of the 14th Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival.
The festival is being held from July 6 and 16 under the slogan 'The Crossroads of Cultures and Civilizations'.
«I attach special importance to this event, since Hamo Beknazaryan has become to us a preacher of good, right relations and patriotism,» Armen Amiryan, Armenian culture minister, said at the stamp cancellation ceremony. «By cancelling this stamp we are delegating our culture ambassador all over the world to tell people about our cinema.»
There are images from the first silent Armenian movie 'Namus' and the first sound movie 'Pepo' next to Hamo Beknazaryan's picture. There is also Armenfilm movie studio's logo on the stamp.
The nominal cost of the stamp is 170 drams. It has been designed by David Dovlatyan and Vahagn Mkrtchyan. It has been issued in 40,000 copies by Cartor, a French printing office. --0---
