Team Telecom Armenia launches third international channel of strategic importance
YEREVAN, January 12. /ARKA/. Team Telecom Armenia has launched the third international channel of strategic importance for the country, which will allow diversifying the country's incoming infrastructure and increasing the level of Internet security, the company's press service reported.
The new channel with a capacity of more than 1 Tbps through Georgia and Russia will connect Armenia to Europe's largest data exchange center in Germany's Frankfurt, becoming an alternative to the existing Georgia-Bulgaria channel running along the bottom of the Black Sea.
"Over the past two years we have significantly improved the backbone infrastructure in Armenia, minimizing the number of accidents, but they still remain uncontrollable outside the country. By using new channels, we prevent the problem of Internet access in case of international accidents and get another backup path, increasing the level of Internet reliability and information security," said Hayk Yesayan, CEO of Team Telecom Armenia.
Until now, the company has been using channels from Georgia and Iran. Thanks to Team Armenia has also become a transit country of internet export for 5 countries in the Middle East.
Team Telecom Armenia provides internet, digital TV, mobile and fixed telephony services. Starting from 2021, the company is building a 25 Gbps NGN (Next Generation Network) using 25G-PON technology, which is unique in the region and will provide quality internet in all regions of Armenia. -0-
