UCOM and AECP organize free eye tests for 2,500 people in Ararat province
YEREVAN, May 11. /ARKA/. Ucom telecom provider and the Armenian EyeCare Project (AECP) organized free eye tests for more than 2,500 residents of Ararat region as part of Bringing Sight to Armenian Eyes program, Ucom said in a press release Tuesday.
According to the press release, of 2,500 residents of Masis and Artashat towns about 630 had in-depth examinations at the mobile ophthalmic clinic, 230 people had surgical procedures , and about 60 people had laser therapy. The project in Ararat region will run until the end of May, after which it will move to the neighboring Vayots Dzor province.
"Through our partnership, we can help many, including socially disadvantaged people, parents of large families, Armenians from Syria, the people who can not take care of themselves,’ said the Project’s Country Director Nune Yeghiazaryan.
In turn, Ucom CEO Hayk Yesayan said Ucom is always ready to assist in this important work. ‘This is a very patriotic endeavor, a very bright project that inspires light and hope,’ he said.
Ucom (Universal Communications) was founded in 2007. It is engaged in providing telecommunications services. With assistance from Ericsson, the company created a broadband access network, providing Internet services, IP-TV and fixed telephony.
