UCOM and UITE start receiving applications for open game contest
YEREVAN, April 15. /ARKA/. Armenian Ucom telecom provider and the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE) said they are receiving applications for the sixth annual Open Game championship for the design of computer and mobile games.
The aim of the championship is to promote development of gaming industry, creation of a new business environment and training of highly qualified specialists.
The championship is carried out in three phases, during which the participants present their computer and mobile games, and then with the help of a professional jury they elaborate them. The jury consists of heads of leading Armenian game designing companies.
The executive director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises Karen Vardanyan said that the annual competition helps identify and encourage young people with technological potential.
The prize fund of the competition is 2 million drams. In addition, participants will receive incentive prizes including equipment. More information is available at www.opengame.am.
This competition has been held since 2011 by UITE and Ucom (formerly Orange Armenia). For the last two years Huawei has been a partner of the competition.
UITE was founded in 2000 to protect the economic interests of It companies, promote business development and research in the field of IT.
Ucom (Universal Communications) was founded in 2007. It is engaged in providing telecommunications services. With assistance from Ericsson, the company created a broadband access network, providing Internet services, IP-TV and fixed telephony. In 2015 September it acquired Orange Armenia, a subsidiary of France Telecom. -0-
