Ucom and World Vision secure stable income for family in Tavush
YEREVAN, June 29. /ARKA/. The Ucom charity fund and the World Vision have joined efforts to secure a stable income for a family in the northeastern region of Tavush. The initiative is part of their joint program called "Let us help keep the children in the family."
The family of six people used to live on family benefits and disability pension, which made a total of 50,000 drams (a little over $100).
"Since the head of the family has the skills and experience of a hairdresser, he was donated professional equipment and tools for repair of his barber shop, as well as construction materials for repairing the roof of the building," Ucom said in a press release.
To participate in the charity program "Let us help keep the children in the family" Ucom’s mobile subscribers can donate 200 or 500 drams by sending an SMS to short numbers 1234 or 5678.
At the end of each month Ucom doubles the donated amount. As part of this project families in need receive funding and equipment enabling them to create stable sources of income and the possibility of bringing up their children in the family.
"We are extremely grateful to Ucom’s subscribers , who donate money on a monthly basis giving families living in extreme poverty to create a stable source of income and give their children the heat of the hearth," Ucom charity fund Ashot Barseghyan said.
World Vision Armenia programs coordinator Zhirayr Edilyan noted the importance of children living in their families and under the care of parents. -0-
