Ucom Charity Foundation and world vision ensure stable income for large family in border village
YEREVAN, May 27. /ARKA/. Armenian Ucom telecom provider’s Charity Foundation and World Vision have teamed up to ensure a stable income for a large family in the border village of Baghanis in Tavush province. The move is part of the joint initiative called ‘Let us keep the children in the family."
The family consisting of four children aged from 6 to 9, was donated home appliances, food, clothes, and two pigs and feed to ensure a stable income. The children are looked after by their elderly grandmother and their father. The latter is engaged in animal husbandry and agriculture.
"As a charitable foundation we should support these families, not only because they are locals, but also because they bring up future soldiers and defenders of the motherland," said Karo Karapetyan, World Vision programs coordinator in Tavush region.
To participate in the charity program Ucom mobile subscribers can donate 200 or 500 drams by sending an SMS to short numbers 1234 and 5678.
"This program enables all subscribers to Ucom mobile communication to contribute to the strengthening of the motherland. Ucom, in turn, doubles the amount and gives it to poor families. This program creates a solid foundation that provides stability for villagers linking them with their land," Ucom Charity Foundation head Ashot Barseghyan said.
