Ucom hands gifts to Armenian Olympic medal-winners and presents unique 4G+ network

YEREVAN, September 26. /ARKA/. Hayk Yesayan, CEO at Ucom Telecommunication Company, handed Saturday gifts to the Rio Olympics medal-gainers from Armenia.    

Artur Aleksanyan, Olympics champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, and another Greco-Roman wrestler Mihran Harutyunyan, who won silver, received keys of new apartments in their cities – Gyumri and Vanadzor.

Yesayan also handed certificates worth AMD 7 million to weightlifters Simon Martirosyan and Gor Minasyan.

They can also enjoy Ucom’s fixed telephony services and ‘12.5’ universal package for life.

Ucom was general sponsor of Armenia’s Olympic national l team in Rio.  

“Today we have two interesting news,” Yesayan said. “First, we intend to hand gifts to our medal-winners. As you know, during the Olympic Games and before that, Ucom were along our Olympic national and today’s champions, who are here now. Together with them, we will announce the launch of our 4G+ new network.”

The Ucom CEO said that this is a 250-megabit unique network in the region. It means users can have 250 megabit-sec Internet.

“There are no other operators in Armenia providing such a speed, we are first to launch it,” he said.

He stressed that such a network is a victory for Armenia, just like victory of Olympic champions.

“The network will initially operate in Yerevan and very soon it will start functioning all over Armenia,” Yesayan said adding that there are no such networks even in highly developed European countries.

Artur Aleksanyan thanked Ucom for the gifts and the event organized for the athletes.

He expressed hope that he will be able to take part in the next Olympics in Tokyo in 2020 and repeat his success.  

“Only returning to our homeland we understand what we have done for it and for our people,” he said.
“All of you have seen how we had been received here, and we are highly grateful for that.”

Mihran Harutyunyan, on his side, said that he feels happy. “People’s recognition is the best and greatest thing for any sportsman and for any person.”

UCom (Universal Communications) established in 2007 provides telecommunication services. The company, under support from Ericsson, is creating the biggest new-generation fiber optic network in Armenia. It provides Internet, IP television and fixed telephony services. --0----
