Ucom intends to invest over AMD 16 billion in modernization of its network in 2017
YEREVAN, February 14. /ARKA/. Ucom, Armenian telecommunication company, intends to invest around AMD 16.6 billion to complete modernization of its network this year, the press office of the company reports.
On Monday, a delegation of the company, headed by CEO Hayk Yesayan, met with Vahan Martirosyan, minister of transport, communication and information technologies to discuss some telecommunication-related problems.
At the meeting, the Ucom CEO said that AMD 28 billion was spent in 2016 on reequipping the company and another AMD 16.6 billion will be spend on completion of the modernization.
He presented the company’s social activity, particularly involvement in educational programs, such as Armat, under which essential programming classes are provided to Armenian schoolchildren.
Yesayan also said that in accordance with a cooperation agreement with Apple, the equipment imported into Armenia will have a special code that will make it possible to identify the goods produced by the company exactly for Armenian consumers.
He stressed that he finds the steps taken by Ucom to create its own OTT application, including mobile television and U!Pay system reasonable.
