Ucom plans to introduce 4g/LTE network
YEREVAN, March 4. /ARKA/. Armenian Ucom telecommunication company plans to introduce the 4G / LTE network, economy minister Artsvik Minasyan said at the Thursday Cabinet session.
The minister said that the modernization of the network will enable the provision of high-quality telecommunications services, including mobile internet with up to 375 Mbps speed, voice services by LTE standard and the possibility of making Wi-Fi calls.
He said the company’s investment program for 2016-2018 is estimated at about 131.7 billion drams ($270 million), of which 38.3 billion drams are to be invested in 2016, 44.1 billion drams in 2017 and 49.3 billion drams in 2018.
The minister said also the investment program is expected to create 340 new jobs with an average salary of 310,000 drams. In 2016, the company plans to import 18.3 billion drams worth equipment and due to it it was awarded by the government a 3-year VAT payment deferment.
Ucom (Universal Communications) was founded in 2007. It is engaged in providing telecommunications services. With assistance from Ericsson, the company created a broadband access network, providing Internet services, IP-TV and fixed telephony.
In 2015 September it acquired 100% of Orange Armenia, a subsidiary of France Telecom. ($1 – 490.48 drams). --0--
