UITE head names 4 major directions of IT development

YEREVAN, January 18. /ARKA/. Karen Vardanyan, the head of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE),  told a news conference today that the main directions of IT development in Armenia are  education, business development, relations with the government and  export of  Armenian IT products. 

In his words, the most important of them is education. He said also that UITE is implementing now two IT education programs, one of which is creation of engineering labs in all schools across the country. ‘Today, we already have 194 laboratories, having covered, in fact, one-fifth of the country's schools, ". Vardanyan said.

He noted that in 2019 Armenia will be hosting the World Congress on Information Technology, whose  theme will be  human relationships and education in the digital age.

"We hope that by that Armenia time will be the only country in the world to have introduced in all its schools primary engineering education. It may bring to the country influential professionals and companies and may also help Armenian businesses to make a huge step forward,"  Vardanyan added. 

He also said there is the potential to create up to 80,000 new jobs in IT sector by 2025. -0-
