Veon to invest in technology development in Armenia
YEREVAN, November 21. /ARKA/. Veon Armenia telecom operator, trading as Beeline, will turn into a modern technology company thanks to investments, Jean Eve Charlie, the chief executive officer of the Veon group of companies, said at the global corporate conference today, hosted by the capital of Armenia.
He said Beeline is the first in Armenia and the third in the world to have introduced the fixed LTE-450 (Long-Term Evolution) network. He added that new investments will be made into Veon Armenia along with the processes of its transformation and digitization. “In any case, our ultimate goal is to provide innovative digital services to our customers," said Charlie.
Mikhail Gerchuk, the director general of the Eurasia region of the Veon group (formerly Vimpelcom Ltd), noted that Veon, ‘the only truly international operator in Eurasia,’ will continue to invest in this region in order to provide better digital communication services.
"The goal of Beeline in Armenia is to provide our customers with the best technical capabilities, simple and convenient services using all possible digital resources, and we intend to continue working for the benefit of our customers and the whole society," said Beeline in Armenia CEO Andrey Pyatakhin.
Top managers of the Veon group of companies gathered in Yerevan to participate in the global corporate conference, the purpose of which is to evaluate the results of the work carried out, as well as to discuss and approve the overall development strategy. More than 180 global and regional leaders came to Armenia to participate in the conference.
