VimpelCom intends to invest much in projects in Armenia
YEREVAN, November 25. /ARKA/. VimpelCom, provider of telecommunication services, intends to invest a great deal in projects in Armenia, Jean-Yves Charlier, the company CEO, said Thursday as met with Karen Karapetyan, Armenian prime minister, in Yerevan, the Armenian government’s press office reports.
He said that the programs will be aimed at improvement of fixed and mobile telecommunication and at modernization of infrastructures.
Karapetyan, in return, hailed this initiative saying that the transport and communication ministry will be waiting for proposals on development of the area.
Stressing the importance of progress in Armenia’s ICT sector, the premier said that the government is preparing a new package for farther development.
He added that the government is ready to discuss with VimpelCom various initiatives and proposals.
VimpelCom is represented in Armenia by ArmenTel (Beeline brand).
ArmenTel CJSC, a subsidiary of Russia’s VimpelCom (trading as Beeline), provides fixed and mobile telecommunication services and a high-speed access to Internet. -0---
