Vimpelcom to accelerate development of its business in Armenia
YEREVAN, November 25. /ARKA/. VimpelCom, the owner of Armenian ArmenTel telecom operator (trading as Beeline), intends to accelerate the development of its business in Armenia, VimpelCom CEO Jean -Yves Charlier told reporters in Yerevan today.
He said VimpelCom is streamlining its business portfolio simplifying also the scheme of activities by introducing new management model across the Group.
He recalled that VimpelCom has been operating in Armenia since 2006 and was the first to introduce 3G technology in the country.
"Armenia is one of the most important markets for VimpelCom in the Eurasian region and we intend to accelerate our business development here and promote the development of new and innovative services for our customers", - Charlier said.
He said the company will continue the development of broadband Internet and will also try to keep its position of a leading operator in the cellular market.
VimpelCom board member Mikhail Gerchuk noted for his part that the Armenian market is not the largest for the company, however the Group seeks to introduce here the most advanced services.
"Armenia was one of the first countries where integrated services were introduced. We are the leader in this market and intend to introduce the most innovative solutions," - said Gerchuk.
ArmenTel was entirely acquired by VimpelCom in 2007. ArmenTel provides fixed and mobile telephony services as well as high-speed Internet. -0-
