New internet search engine presented in Armenia

YEREVAN, September 9, /ARKA/. Hanguyts (Knot) creative group presented Tuesday (September 8) an Armenian Internet search engine at www.hsearch.am. The presentation ceremony was attended by Diaspora Minister Hranush Hakobian.
The minister pointed out the role of Internet in the life of humanity and stressed that the new search engine will serve the goal of uniting Armenians throughout the world.
She said ‘high technology must serve one goal-to help strengthen and consolidate the Armenian independence.’
Mher Abrahamian, head of the Knot group, said the Internet is playing an increasingly significant role in the preservation of the native language. He said www.hsearch.am will allow Armenian users to easily find information posted on Armenian websites.
Artem Chakhoyan, program coordinator, said the new search engine, unlike other search engines, looks for Armenian websites regardless of their fonts and coding language and translates Armenian words with Latin transliteration into Armenian. At the end of the presentation ceremony the Diaspora Ministry and the Knot creative group signed a cooperation memorandum. M.M. -0-
