Annual presidential award “Worldwide it authority” instituted in Armenia

YEREVAN, June 24. /ARKA/. The annual presidential award “Worldwide IT authority” has been instituted in Armenia, reported Hovik Musaelyan, Executive Director of Synopsis Armenia.

The VivaCell-MTS mobile operator, Hayastan All Armenian Fund and Synopsis Armenia signed a memorandum on the financing of the newly instituted presidential award.

The award will be granted to specialists that distinguished themselves in the IT sector – scientists, businessmen and statesmen.

The memorandum inaugurates a new stage in the IT development and the institution of a prestigious award – the annual presidential award ‘Worldwide IT authority’,” Musaelyan said. He congratulated the Armenian public on this important achievement.

Ara Vardanyan, Executive Director Hayastan All Armenian Fund, said it is one more step proving successful cooperation between the three agencies. He reported that the Armenian president is to sign a relevant decree within the next few days. The amount of money will be set and the jury formed.

Vardanyan thanked the sides for their initiative and pointed out long-lasting cooperation between the Hayastan Fund and VivaCell-MTS.

VivaCell-MTS was main sponsor of the Telethon-2008 organized by the Hayastan Fund. A total of US $35mln was raised.

Ralph Yirikian, VivaCell-MTS General Manager pointed out the company’s willingness to support awards like this and other activities aimed to ensure Armenia’s prosperity.

“We love our country and do our best to boost our country’s reputation – both inside and outside it,” he said.
 
Synopsys Armenia, in cooperation with VivaCell-MTS, is also preparer and sponsor of a microelectronics competition. In 2005, Synopsys and the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund signed an agreement instituting an annual IT education award for the best high- and higher-school  students. Synopsys-Armenia is sponsor of the award.  –0--
