Proceeds from communication services 169.1bln amd in 2008

YEREVAN, February 2. /ARKA/. Proceeds from communication services totaled 169.1bln AMD in Armenia in 2008, (VAT exclusive), which is 14.9% more than in the previous year.

The RA National Statistical Service reports that the share of mail and messenger service was 3.6bln AMD, an increase of 25.7%.

Proceeds from telecommunication system rose by 14.7% up to 165.5bln AMD, specifically, proceeds from telephone communication totaled 43.8bln AMS (18.2% decrease), and that from telegraph services amounted 42mln AMD (0.6% decrease). Proceeds from user charges and from lump sums for fixed telephony services decreased by 5.3% and came to 8.59mln AMD and proceeds from mobile services increased by 32.8% up to 112bln AMD in 2008.

Proceeds from data transfer and Internet services grew 52.3% and amounted 4.686bln AMD, that from broadcast of TV programs rose by 7.3% up to 3.386bln, and from other services 76.9% up to 1.5bln AMD.

According to the statistics, proceeds from mobile communication services have the biggest share in total communication services – 66.3%, followed by proceeds from fixed telephony services – 25.9%. ($1 – 305.21AMD). --0--
