VivaCell-MTS reports 28% growth of subscribers

YEREVAN, January 25, /ARKA/: Armenia’s largest mobile phone operator ViVaCell-MTS said in a statement the number of its subscribers rose by 2.8% in 2009 to 2.07 million. The statement said the clientele base grew by 0.6% in 2009, rising, particularly, by 1.3% in December 2009.

According to Russian MTS which owns ViVaCell, the lowest clientele base growth rate was in Armenia and the highest-90%- in Turkmenistan..

In terms of figures the highest growth was reported by Russian regions (Moscow and Leningrad regions not counted), where the number of subscribers grew last year by 5.57 million. The consolidated number of MTS subscribers grew by 7.1% to 97.8 million people.
