YEREVAN, February 4. /ARKA/. Orange Armenia, a 100% subsidiary of France Teleocm, said from today new sales and service tools will be implemented in several Orange shops, aimed at improving customer service, facilitating and systemizing understanding of customers’ needs and consulting by sales consultants.

The new electronic tool, which has already been implemented in 10 Orange shops, will be applied in all Orange shops in coming weeks, providing the same opportunities of servicing and consulting Orange shops in all regions of Armenia.

Bruno Duthoit, Orange Armenia CEO, said: “One of the most important target for our company is that of quality in terms of network, billing, charging and servicing. Lots of work have been done in all these respects in 2011, and our customers feel the result of that work in their everyday life, their feedbacks come to prove my words. But as we say, we should not stop on the top. One of our priorities for 2012 is to perfect the quality of customer service and consulting, do and offer more than our customers expect from us. Implementation of this new sales tool is only one of the steps made in this respect”.

The new electronic tool, which will be applied by Orange sales and service agents, enables them to explore customers’ needs through short and quick questions-and-answers, having in view the latter’s telecom habits, main contacts, anticipated average monthly spending and other factors. After filling in these data the system offers the best option for the customer, as well as finds the handset model which better suits the customer’s needs.-0-

YEREVAN, February 3. /АРКА/. GNC-Alfa, the largest independent Internet and data provider in Armenia, has sold 75% minus one share to Rostelecom OJSC, Russia’s national telecommunications operator, to spur its development, GNC-Alfa CEO Hayk Farmazyan said in an interview with ARKA News Agency. “We had long negotiations with various foreign investors, and our approaches to business development were in tune with those of Rostelecom,” he said in his interview.

He said that the company needed a strategic investor for implementation of its development program.

Farmazyan, however, refrained from commenting on media reports according to which Rostelecom has got an option for the remaining 25% plus one share.

Rostelecom has acquired 75% of GNC-ALFA’s shares for US$ 22.5 million (approximately RUB 682 million).

As the company’s press office said, shares were bought by Teleset Networks LTD, a subsidiary of Rostelecom.

GNC-ALFA operates a modern fibre-optic network spanning approximately 1,500 km, which passes through 70% of the territory of the Republic of Armenia. GNC-ALFA’s network is interconnected with the region’s major backbone networks and major MMR (“meet-me-room”) centres, as well as with international gateways with Iran and Georgia. GNC-ALFA is the largest independent aggregator of national IP-traffic, and its subsequent transit, in Armenia.

In 2012, GNC-ALFA plans to actively develop its broadband Internet and pay-TV services for individuals in Armenia. This will stimulate growth in its business and it will enable the company to capitalise on high demand from end-users in the Armenian market which also has strong potential for increases in penetration.

GNC-ALFA reported revenues of approximately US$ 12 million with an EBITDA margin of 48% for the full year of 2011. The company’s current net debt stands at less than US$ 1 million.

Provorotov spoke about Rostelecom’s intention to purchase assets from CIS member countries yet in October 2011. He meant then acquisition of mobile assets.

In January, Rostelecom’s directorial board was considering the company’s foreign policy.

Rostelecom is Russia’s national telecommunications operator and now also includes the regional incumbent telecommunications operators - CentreTelecom, SibirTelecom, Dalsvyaz, Uralsvyazinform, VolgaTelecom, North-West Telecom and Southern Telecommunications Company and Dagsvyazinform.

Rostelecom’s largest investor is Svyazinvest state-owned holding - 40.07% of the national telecommunication operator’s authorized capital and 43.37% of equities belong to it.

Rosimushestvo owns 6.86% and 7.43% respectively, and 2.26% and 2.45% voting non-equity shares belong to WEB.

Other 3.44% of the authorized capital and 2.69% equities were bought out from shareholders opposed to reorganization of shareholders and handed over to Mobiltel. A part of Mobiltel’s package is set into operation in Rostelecom’s enlarged operational program. -0-

YEREVAN, February 1. /ARKA/. Introduction of Mobile Number Portability (MNP)- shifting to another mobile operator with preservation of old number should be preceded by a study of international experience, ArmenTel telecom CEO, Igor Klimko, said to ARKA in an exclusive interview.

"The first step is to study the international experience to see whether MNP is effective and how it works in other countries," said Klimko. According to him, this system was recently introduced in Georgia.

"I can not say it has produced excellent results, because the operators have spent a lot of money on maintenance of the system, but in reality the number of subscribers who use the system is not large, " said Klimko.

Despite this, he said ArmenTel’s experts are willing to present their vision of this issue.

<yandex:full-text>YEREVAN, January 31. /ARKA/. On Tuesday, ArmenTel CEO Igor Klimko, commenting on yesterday’s hacker attacks on Armenian websites, told ARKA News Agency that no the company’s websites were among broken Internet sites.

He said that the company has no problem with hacking, since severs in the company’s hosting are properly protected.

Unified electronic pension database will be introduced in July in Armenia, said Armenian Social Welfare Minister Artur Grigoryan on Tuesday to the journalists.

 <yandex:full-text>

YEREVAN, January 31. /ARKA/. Unified electronic pension database will be introduced in July in Armenia, said Armenian Social Welfare Minister Artur Grigoryan on Tuesday to the journalists.

In its result, the opportunity of transferring pensions on the account of dead people or people who had left the country will be excluded.

“If a person dies in Armenia, who received a pension, after registration of relevant certificate to the registrar, the data in the online mode will fall into a single database”, said Grigoryan.

After crossing the borders of the country, this information will be immediately registered in the database and pension payment will be suspended.

“Parallel to the development of the new database, we calculated the old database, in the result of which the number of registered pensioners reduced fr om 520 thousand to 509 thousand. In the previous years 11 thousand “extra” people were registered in the database, pensions were not given, in the result of which in 2011, 10 billion 227 million drams was returned to the state budget.

Grigoryan said that everything was done to avoid interference of officials in certain processes, thus excluding the factor of subjectivity.

“Pension assignment, suspension of its payment and other issues will be determined with the help of computer program, and interference in these processes is practically impossible. The program will determine which type of pension will be assigned and what payments will be made”, he said.

The process of pension reforms started on January 1, 2011 by the introduction of volunteer accumulative pension system. From January 1, 2014 mandatory accumulative pension system will be introduced in the country, wh ere all the citizens born after January 1, 1974 will be included. -0-

YEREVAN, January 31. /ARKA/. Hacker attacks on Armenian websites, which began the previous day, still continue, Samvel Martirosyan, an expert in cyber security, said to ARKA.

"At this point we have revealed 13 websites, hacked by a hacker or hacker group acting under the pseudonym Dr-x, he said.

Among the hacked websites are those of universities and political organizations, including the official website of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia. According to Martirosian, the main problem most likely lies in the hosting, on which the hacked websites are located. He said it is impossible yet to determine the nationality of a hacker or hacker group.

"We have got accustomed to being hacked by Azerbaijani or Turkish hackers, but in this case no identity can be seen," said Martirosyan. -0-

YEREVAN, January 30. /ARKA/. The iPad turned two years old on Friday. Despite a persistent onslaught of would-be rivals, the Apple tablet still dominates the market, and it doesn’t show any signs of losing momentum any time soon.

The innovative device was introduced two years ago by Apple founder and CEO, Steve Jobs producing a kind of revolution. Even before the presentation of the first iPad on January 27, 2010, experts and journalists wrote that the new product would be a merge of a smartphone, netbook and reader, RIA Novosti reports.

The innovative device actually created a separate niche at mobile electronics market- a segment of tablet PC. In 2011, according to Strategy Analytics, 66.9 million devices were shipped that was a 260% increase over the previous year. Analysts point out that more and more consumers prefer tablets to personal computers.

In spite of the tablet "boom" of the past two years - Samsung, RIM, Motorola and others are selling their devices as well, but Apple continues to dominate this market. In the fourth quarter of 2011, Apple sold a record number of 15.43 billion iPad devices, 58% of the market, according to the Strategy Analytics.

Sale of first iPads began in the United States on April 3, 2010. On the first day Apple sold more than 300 thousand pieces. In one month sales reached one million in the U.S. and by the end of 2010, the company managed to sell nearly 15 million devices.

Second generation iPad devices were introduced in March 2011, for the sake of this presentation, Steve Jobs, who died in October last year, broke off his vacation. In just two years Apple has sold more than 55 million iPad devices of both generations.

Analysts predict that in future the popular tablet will gradually cede market share to competing devices, in particular, to low-cost tablets, like Amazon Kindle Fire. But Apple will be able to partially restore the lost market share due to the third generation iPad, which is expected in the coming months.

According to unofficial data, the device will have a powerful processor, a high-resolution screen and the support for cellular LTE networks. According to the forecast of Apple CEO, Tim Cook, tablets will sooner or later overtake traditional computers. -0-

The film “Autumn sun” became the winner of Armenian film festival “Web Apricot” organized from November 15 to December 25, 2011.

YEREVAN, January 27. /ARKA/. The film “Autumn sun” became the winner of Armenian film festival “Web Apricot” organized from November 15 to December 25, 2011.

International film festival “Golden apricot” and Internet-TV Webtv.am with the support of mobile operator VivaCell-MTS (affiliate of Russian “MTS”) have founded Armenian film festival “Web Apricot”.

“I think the film shows the fading feminine beauty. This film is very poetic and it is a mood. One expert familiar to me, after watching the film said that I create drama in the film by mood. In my opinion, the ability to create mood is my trump card”, said Film Director Diana Kardumyan to ARKA News Agency during the awarding ceremony.

The film received Grand Prix which cost $1 thousand in dram equivalent. Arsen Hayrapetyan’s film “Harbor of crossing fates” received the special prize in $500 (in dram equivalent).

Encouragement prizes were awarded to the films “A light touch”, “School Nakhsho”, “That other Frunzik”, “Help them now” and “Bye-bye”.

In the festival’s program participated 42 films. Duration of the films should not have exceeded 20 minutes. Photography genre, quality and format remained on the filmmakers.

Primarily it was envisaged to determine the winner through Internet-voting, but then, due to certain technical reasons the organizers rejected this idea deciding to establish a panel of jury who selected the winner.

The films demonstrated in the festival were broadcasted only by Internet-TV Webtv.am. ---0-
