Rostelecom announces rebranding; changes will affect its Armenian subsidiary as well
YEREVAN, September 26. /ARKA/. Russia's national telecommunications operator Rostelecom PJSC has announced a rebranding, the first one since 2011, introducing a new trade mark that has replaced the blue-orange logo with a folded two-color ribbon, whose colors vary depending on the service offered.
Siranush Gyurjinyan, the press secretary for Rostelecom’s Armenian subsidiary GNC Alfa (trading as Rostelecom in Armenia), told ARKA news agency that the rebranding was made to reflect the technological transformations taking place inside the company and present a more contemporary trademark.
She said the rebranding is part of the company's global corporate strategy, which affects all its subsidiaries, which will be presented in the new form and style with time.
Mikhail Oseevsky, the president of Rostelecom, explained that they wanted to get away from the image of the company that provides telephone services, stressing that "the new logo symbolizes the progress and development of digital technologies."
The new visual style was developed in partnership with the agencies Bootleg (BBDO group) and Saffron Brand Consultants. The development cost Rostelecom 35 million rubles. Changes will be introduced this year and further, and the first advertising campaign in the updated corporate style will start on October 1.
In addition to rebranding, Rostelecom also announced the launch of a new multimedia platform Wink, which combined a mobile application, a web portal and an application for Smart TV. The company also entered the online education segment, launching a platform for entrepreneurs, as well as additional services (virtual PBX, SMS-advertising, Wi-Fi, video surveillance or television).
Rostelecom’s Armenian subsidiary GNC-ALFA began promotion and sale of broadband Internet, IP-TV and a new generation of IP-telephony in Armenia under the brand of Rostelecom from 2012 December.
The company’s fiber-optic network covers 80% of the territory of Armenia, extending to more about 3000 km. The network is connected to the main regional backbones and major traffic exchange sites, as well as international channels via Georgia and Iran. --0----
