VivaCell-MTS gearing for introduction of 5g network in 2020
YEREVAN, December 21 /ARKA/. Armenian telecommunications company VivaCell-MTS said it was preparing for the introduction of the 5G network in 2020. In a live Facebook broadcast the company’s CEO Ralph spoke about the status of large-scale mobile network modernization work at the company's base stations and unveiled new technologies that will be introduced.
"We are updating and modernizing the company’s network. We are pioneers in the introduction of new technologies in Armenia, including the 3G and 4G networks, as a result of which Armenia is included in the list of the first 10 countries that have introduced new technologies. We continue to move in this direction, and we are preparing our network for the 5G in 2020, ”Yirikyan said.
He said the upgrading of the existing base stations is a complicated and lengthy process, and stressed that this leads to certain shortcomings in the operation of the network.
Yirikian apologized to the subscribers of the company for the possible inconvenience and failures of the network, stressing that this would allow them to enjoy later a much better service.
VivaCell-MTS has been operating in Armenia since 2005. Eighty percents of the company are owned by Russian MTS and 20% by Lebanon-based Fattouch Group. --0--
