Korea and China considering establishment of IT excellence centers in Armenia
YEREVAN, July 9. /ARKA/. The governments of Korea and China are considering the establishment of IT centers in Armenia, patterned from the Armenian-Indian IT center of excellence, Bagrat Yengibaryan, director of Enterprises Incubator Foundation, (EIF) told a news conference today.
The Armenian-Indian Center of Excellence in IT was launched November 7 at Yerevan State University. The agreement to establish it was reached in 2009. The Center is equipped with India-manufactured Supercomputer Param (10-40 gigaflops performance) worth over $1.5 million. The Center is funded by Armenian government and the University. All equipment is provided by the government of India.
"The governments of Korea and China expressed desire to establish IT excellence centers in Armenia, modeled from the Armenian-Indian IT excellence center. Thus, they view Armenia as a regional technology center," Yengibarian told a press conference today.
He said a large Korean delegation is due in Armenia later this week to see Armenia’s IT potential. The Koreans will present also achievements of their country in the fields of IT and electronic services. -0-
