VimpelCom pledges $30 million investment in its Armenian subsidiary
YEREVAN March 2. /ARKA/. VimpelCom plans to invest $30 million in the upgrading of its Armenian subsidiary ArmenTel telecom operator, VimpelCom chief executive officer Jean Yves Charly told Armenian minister of transport, communications and information technology Vahan Martirosyan on the fringes of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
According to an Armenian ministry press release, the money will be channeled into the modernization of the company's network in Armenia, as well as in the introduction of new digital services. According to Charly, this investment policy of the company will become regular, because VimpelCom believes in the potential of the Armenian market and the current government's policy to promote business development.
Earlier, at a news conference in Armenia, Jean Yves Charly said the company will focus on the expansion of the 4G/LTE network coverage, development of broadband Internet and improvement of the speed and network bandwidth and the third important area of investment will be digital services and their development.
ArmenTel (trading as Beeline) has been the full subsidiary of VimpelCom since 2007. ArmenTel provides fixed and mobile telephony services as well as high-speed Internet.-0-
