David Yan proposes to create a unique city of artificial intelligence in Armenia

YEREVAN, February 6. /ARKA/. In an interview with Armenian Public Television, David Yan, founder of ABBYY and president of Newo ai, a company working in the field of artificial intelligence, said that at a recent meeting with the Armenian Prime Minister he proposed to create an AI city that would become a world scientific center and attractive for investments from other countries. 

"We should create conditions to attract hundreds and thousands of minds to Armenia. This, for example, has already been done in Silicon Valley. What can attract scientists from the field of artificial intelligence to Armenia? Only one thing - data, which is not available anywhere else. What kind of data? First of all, biological, multimodal data," he said. 

He clarified that he meant data on the human genome, blood groups, the content of serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin and other hormones, oxygen and so on.  

"There is no such data because it is sensitive information worldwide. That's why Europe has strict restrictions on personal information and is developing slower than the US and China," says Yan. 

He proposes to create a kind of enclave in Armenia where scientists and their families, about 25,000 families, will move to. They would have access to this information and at the same time provide such data about themselves. At the same time, according to his vision, humanoid robots, flying drones, cars with autopilots will appear in the city. However, it will be a closed zone, and only scientists will have access to information.

"For this we need to build a modern small nuclear power plant, wind and solar power plants, but even these capacities are not enough, because we will need large server capacities - it will be the largest information cluster in the world. The servers will generate so much heat that it will be enough to heat the city. If we do such a project and agree that each country will invest in this city, it will be like the ISS and the Hadron Collider. If 100 countries invest 25-50 billion each, each country will be able to send scientists to this city of the future proportionally, they will receive information, and the number of scientific discoveries and publications will be unrivaled," Yang said, noting that Armenia will be constantly mentioned in the front pages of the world press. 

At the same time, he noted that it will be impossible to buy real estate in this city, and it will be provided for the period of scientific activity. -0-
