Online game “Another Armenia” promotes integration of Armenian internet society in social life

YEREVAN, November 29. /ARKA/. Socio-political online game “Another Armenia” promotes integration of Armenian Internet society in active social life of the country, said Project Manager of “Hayland”, author of the game Artashes Mkrtchyan.

“Another Armenia” is a simulator of virtual state in Hayland.am. Its goal is to increase social responsibility and outreach of online society, integration and introduction with the process of state management and direct participation in these processes”, said Mkrtchyan on Tuesday in the presentation-discussion of the game.

Participants of the game can freely express their political position, establish initiative groups and parties, gather like-minded people, ballot in the parliament and presidency, develop projects and laws, participate in the discussions and voting.

He said that “Another Armenia” is a cycled game related to reality where real politicians, parties, members of youth movements, NGOs and just ordinary citizens who are not indifferent to politics can participate in it.Upon the completion of each separate cycle (four months), the draft laws adopted in the game will be processed by administration of the resource and submitted to the National Assembly of Armenia for discussion as “voice of people” calling attention to the wishes and position of public.

Expert of information security, famous blogger Samvel Martirosyan said that today it is difficult to forecast success of any Internet project but the idea itself is not bad and can attract the attention of online society.
“Today Facebook has monopolized the sphere of social networks and I welcome any attempt of demonopoliztaion of the given sphere”, he said.

Associate Professor of Sociology of Yerevan State University Nvard Melkonyan said that the game can play an important social role as it can become a platform for modeling of social and political reality of Armenia in Internet.

“The game can also bring the public opinion on a particular issue to the competent authorities or bodies”, she said.
At present, in beta-version of the game about 500 users of Hayland are playing, as well as about 70 groups are created.
By the end of the year it is planned to develop an attachment which will allow to attract also the users of other social networks in the game.

The game cycle starts with the fact that the State Council represents 3 priority socio-political issues which will be discussed in the given cycle of the game. Parties, groups, politicians and potential presidential candidates form their positions by the given questions and start their discussion in the frames of pre-electoral presidential campaign. Then presidential elections are conducted.

The elected president starts parliamentary elections and represents issues which will be discussed by legislative body, party and conduct parliamentary elections.

Parliament starts its work – discussion and voting on the given questions. All 3 questions are discussed in turn. In the interval of “presidential” questions, issues selected by internal voting are also discussed.

The final announcement on certain issue is approved by the president and sent to the State Council which considers the document and submits to consideration of National Assembly of Armenia.
