All Armenian schools to have engineering and robotics clubs in three years, UITE
YEREVAN, May 22. / ARKA /. Engineering and robotics clubs will be set up in all schools across Armenia in the next three years, Hayk Chobanyan, deputy head of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE), said today when speaking at the 15th annual congress of UITE in the resort town of Aghveran.
He said 84 schools across the country already have engineering and robotics clubs, 20 of which are engineering labs, equipped with all necessary equipment. He said UITE has a contract with Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) foundation on setting up four engineering labs in Syunik region, and another contract with Grand Candy company on establishment of laboratories in Tavush region and in Yerevan.
According to him, currently these clubs embrace more than one thousand children.
"Our biggest achievement is the motivation of children that continues into their adulthood to help them become professionals. I am sure that in the coming years we will witness great changes in the IT sector,‘ said Chobanyan.
He said UITE builds its activities on the concept developed last year that aims to make Armenia one of the top 20 leading countries in the field of IT.
He also noted that Armenia has today about 400 IT companies, 70 of which are members of UITE.
The Union of Information Technology Enterprises of Armenia (UITE) was founded in 2000 to protect the economic interests of IT companies, stimulate their development and promote research in the field of IT.--0-
