Kaspersky Lab, Russian-Armenian University sign cooperation memorandum

YEREVAN, July 25. /ARKA/. Eugene Kaspersky, a Russian cybersecurity expert and the CEO of Kaspersky Lab, and Armen Darbinyan, the head of Russian-Armenian (Slavonik) University signed a cooperation memorandum on Thursday.   

“It is very pleasant to us that interaction with Kaspersky Lab in Armenia continues through Russian-Armenian University, through creation of a unique post-graduate program, which we will launch on September 1 this year and which will give many Armenian students a chance to obtain professional skills,” Darbinyan said.

The mew master program implies two-year classes.

“This is an important event not only to us, but also to the entire country, since Armenian companies are in want of cyber security specialists today,” Darbinyan said. “And it is a great honor to us that such specialists will be prepared by our university along with Kaspersky Lab that is know all over the world.”
Kaspersky Lab specialists will provide four curricula to post-graduate students, and after the first year of their study students will get a chance to undertake their internship in Kaspersky Lab in Moscow or other cities.

Eugene Kaspersky, on his side, said that Armenia is very active in IT industry, and therefore it attracted the Lab’s attention.

“Armenian traditional education is good, and that is why it is very interesting to us to collaborate with universities in Yerevan,” he said. “In my previous visit to Armenia, I took many interesting ideas from here. Armenia may declare itself a flagship IT country at any moment, since it has necessary capacity.”
Kaspersky added that shortage of specialists is one of the gravest problems in cyber security.

“That is why we attach importance to education programs in this area,” he said. “We hope that very soon graduates of the new master program graduates will start saving the world from cyber threats.”
Darbinyan assigned Russian-Armenian University Honored Doctor title to Kaspersky. --0---
