Armenian Blockchain Forum to create Armenian "Silicon Valley"
YEREVAN, January 15. /ARKA/. The Armenian Blockchain Forum (ABF) met today with the president of the country and a government task force to present a program designed for the creation of a technological cluster, the company's press service reported, saying also that as a result of the meeting, the idea of creating a free economic zone was approved. It said also that the zone will house the Armenian "Silicon Valley".
The main task of the new cluster will be the organization of a special infrastructure for the development of high-tech projects from around the world, according to ABF. As part of the first stage of the program, scheduled to kick off in the first half of 2018, an international accelerator will open to become a platform for the development of innovative projects from around the world.
Economic development and investments minister Suren Karayan noted during the meeting that this initiative will boost the development of high technologies in Armenia and turn the country into one of the world's technological leaders.
According to ABF, some 300 high-paying jobs will be created in the first year of the activity, and a minimum of $120 million of investments will be brought to the country. -0--
