Beeline launches new wireless fixed network in Vayots Dzor to replace CDMA internet access
YEREVAN, May 26. /ARKA/. Armenian telecommunications operator ArmenTel (trading as Beeline) has launched in test mode the state-of-the-art wireless fixed network in the 450 MHz band in Vayots Dzor province to replace the CDMA network for Internet access.
The upgraded network enables higher quality and more stable signal ensuring uninterrupted access to the Internet in rural and sparsely populated areas, ArmenTel said in a press release.
The new technology was presented on May 25 at Beeline’s sales and service offices in the city of Yeghegnadzor, the administrative center of the province. A test stand prepared by the company that used wireless coverage of the new network achieved more than 10MB/s speed of access to the Internet. The stability of the signal in the modernized fixed network in 450 MHz band is times higher than those in 2G and 3G mobile networks.
ArmenTel CEO Andrei Pyatakhin said the company's subscribers in the regions will soon have access to broadband Internet at speeds up to 5 MB/s and at prices well below the currently existing tariffs for mobile internet
Along with the new technology, allowing access to high-quality broadband Internet the company will continue to provide fixed telephone by CDMA technology.
ArmenTel is entirely owned by VimpelCom. It provides fixed and mobile telephony services as well as high-speed Internet and IPTV.—0-
