Former Armenian high technology minister to become member of Eurasian Economic Commission board member
YEREVAN, February 1. /ARKA/. Gegham Vardanyan will become a new member of the Eurasian Economic Commission's board (minister) on February 1, 2020, the press office of the Eurasian Economic Commission reported on Friday. The new member will be in charge of internal markets and information and communication technologies.
Vardanyan was chosen by leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union member countries on December 20, 2019 in Saint Petersburg at a session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. Before this appointment, Vardanyan was Armenia's deputy high technology minister.
"Digitization and development of domestic markets are one of the key drivers of the Eurasian Economic Union member countries' economies," he is quoted in the report. "The implementation of digital projects will speed up transition to the new technology mode and will create a more favorable environment for development of integration processes inside the union."
Vardanyan expressed confidence that it will be possible to achieve a significant progress in removal of barriers and to speed up digitalization of the union countries by joint efforts. -0---
