German scientists testing spacesuits and robotics in Armenia
YEREVAN, March 18. /ARKA/. Scientists from Würzburg University are testing in Armenia spacesuits and robotic equipment capable of working in space, TASS reported citing German newspaper Bild.
The topography of Armenia, according to German researchers, most resembles the terrain of Mars, so it is here that scientists decided to test robots for future space missions.
More specifically, the experiment is taking place in a location outside the village of Armash on the border with Azerbaijan and Turkey. The German scientists will stay there until the beginning of April.
As part of the experiment special robots should scan the terrain and create a three-dimensional map of it. The spacesuits, which the scientists are also testing, are designed for temperatures as low as minus 133 degrees Celsius. -0-
