Rostelecom in Armenia teaches basics of computer and internet to senior citizens
YEREVAN, April 28, /ARKA/. On April 27 Rostelecom in Armenia launched a special course "ABC of Internet" designed for senior citizens in the town of Alaverdi in the northern Armenian province of Lori.
According to Rostelecom in Armenia, the course is aimed at helping senior citizens to master the basic skills of using computers and surfing through Internet. Young volunteers from the World Vision charity organization who had a special course on how to teach the basics to older people, helped in the organization of the course.
This is the first such course conducted entirely in the Armenian language. The course had been tested to be easy for senior citizens (50+) to learn.
Hayk Faramazyan, the general director of Rostelecom in Armenia, said the program will be extended to new urban and rural communities.
‘Rostelecom attaches great importance to the implementation of the program in Armenia. I am sure that all representatives of our society should have the opportunity to acquire minimum computer skills and know how to surf in the Internet. It's impossible to imagine life without new technologies nowadays, "he said.
