Russia’s Megafon has no intention to open subsidiary in Armenia
YEREVAN, March 30./ARKA/. MegaFon, one of Russia’s three largest mobile telecommunication operators, has no intention to open a resident office in Armenia in the immediate future, Karen Asoyan, chief of the company’s public relations division, said on Friday.
He told journalists that MegaFon had chosen a strategy of development exactly in Russia and had been focused on Russia.
Asoyan said the company didn’t intend to enter either foreign or CIS countries’ markets so far.
Although MegaFon has offices in Abkhazia and Tajikistan, the company concentrates its focus on provision of high-quality services particularly in Russia.
He said that expansion of the company’s services is a matter of the future.
At the same time, Asoyan said that the company keeps a close watch over things at Armenia’s mobile telecommunication market.
“We are closely watching over our competitors here, since our two main rivals have offices in Armenia, but we have no intention to do our business somewhere outside of Russia,” he said.
MegaFon has subsidiaries in Tajikistan, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
In June 2010, the company bought 100% of Synterra to strengthen own network infrastructure and its positions at long-distance and fixed telecommunication markets as well as at markets of broadband cellular access to Internet and convergent services.
The company’s has 62 million active clients. -0—
