Russia’s Rostelecom sees good prospects for development at Armenia’s telecommunication market

YEREVAN, September 22./ARKA/. Russia’s Rostelecom sees glowing prospects for development at Armenia’s telecommunication market, Alexander Rogovoy, Rostelecom executive vice-president, told journalists on Monday. 

“We see very good development prospects for all our telecommunication services – broadband Internet access, VOIP and IPTV,” he said. “All the services we offer are highly demanded and attract customers immediately.”

Therefore, he said, the company is considering an opportunity to expand the range of services and is optimistic about the future introduction of new services. 

In his words, the company is ranked third at Armenia’s B2C (Business-To-Consumer) telecommunications market. It intends to expand its presence in the country’s capital and provinces. 

Rogovoy also stressed that Russia’s Rostelecom is satisfied with the activity of GNC-Alfa, its Armenian subsidiary, which has built up the number of its clients from 10,000 to 21,000 since the beginning of this year.  

“We started operating at this market not so long ago, and therefore the number of our customers is not so large, but the growth pace shows that our clients are happy about the qualities of our services, including the offered packages,” he said. 

The company, he said, puts special emphasis on expansion of its network and will pay special attention to Internet and IP television. It is also preparing a number of new high-technology services. 

Competition at Armenia’s market is quite strong, he added, and this inspires the company to development of new products and services. 

Rogovoy said the company enjoys comfortable conditions for operation and has absolutely no problems. 

GNC-ALFA CJSC, Rostelecom’s Armenian subsidiary, started operating in Armenia in December 2012 under Rostelecom brand. In late 2012, Rostelecom offered high-speed Internet, telephony and IP television services in Armenia’s residents. The company’s fiber-optic network covers 80% of Armenia’s territory.

Russia’s Rostelecom has more than 13 million customers now. --0--
