VivaCell-MTS boasts 2 million subscribers
YEREVAN, July 1. / ARKA /. Ten years after its inception in Armenia VivaCell-MTS telecom boasts now over 2 million subscribers, VivaCell-MTS CEO Ralph Yirikian said today. According to him, the number of subscribers using data transfer services currently stands at 1.12 million.
He said VivaCell-MTS’s 3G-mobile network is now available to 98.8% of the population, 2G networks is accessible to 99,8%. In 2009, VivaCell-MTS launched the first in Armenia 4G/LTE network with 150 Mbit per second speed. Currently 4G network is available to about 45.7% of the population in seven cities of Armenia.
He said some 23.5 trillion calls have been made over these ten years and 2.7 billion short messages have been sent.
VivaCell-MTS now runs 92 service centers throughout the country, working seven days a week around the clock. The network with 42.2 Mbps speed is available in 615 settlements of Armenia. Yirikian said also that VivaCell-MTS has 494,196 roaming partners in 196 countries.
"I would like to express special thanks to 1,400 members of our staff without whom we would never have been able to achieve what we have now achieved," said Yirikian.
VivaCell-MTS (K-Telecom CJSC) has been working in the Armenian market since 2005. Some 80% of the company is owned by Russian Mobile Telesystems (MTS) and the other 20% belong to Lebanese Fattouch Group. ($ 1 = AMD 472.53). -0-
