Yerevan municipality presents new version of its official website

YEREVAN, October 11. /АРКА/. The official website of Yerevan municipality presented its renewed official website www.yerevan.am today in the city hall ahead of the City Day that will be marked on October 14 this year.

“The Yerevan mayor’s speech is posted on the homepage, and this makes the city closer to everybody, since Yerevan is not only the capital of the republic, but it is also the capital of all Armenians,” Arthur Gevorgyan, chief of the municipality’s press office, said at the presentation.
Among innovations, he singled out the 1-08 hot-line section – complaints and proposals can be addressed to the city authorities every day fr om 09:00 to 18:00.  

Gevorgyan also presented the renewed version of www.myyerevan.am, wh ere an interactive map will be available with all the City Day events’ venues on it.
Sarkis Manukyan, chief of the Yerevan municipality’s technology management center, on his side, said that all the City Day events can be watched here online.
He added that comprehensive information with photos is posted here. The City Day festivities will be held in Yerevan under The Capital of My Heart motto.
About AMD 90 million ($220.800) has been allocated from the government budget for celebration of this holyday.

Street-cleansing machines’ parade, theatrical performances showing the process of the city foundation, marches in central streets will be among the events. 
Folk, jazz and classic music concerts, exhibitions, street musicians, mime artists and model airplane builders’ performances, streetball contests and a bike ride are included in the program as well.
The festivities will be ended in fireworks. 

Erebuni-Yerevan, an annual celebration of the city’s foundation was first marked in 1968, when the Armenian capital turned 2,750. Until 1988 it was celebrated every year, but after the country's independence, this tradition was resumed only in 1998.

Yerevan (Erebuni) was founded in 782 BC, 29 years before the founding of Rome, by the king of Urartu Argishti in the south-east of the Armenian Highland. A stone plate with cuneiform, which bears the date of the founding of the city is in Erebuni museum. -0-
